Welcome to my practice! I am Dr Ed Quah, a Consultant Rheumatologist based in Manchester, dedicated to providing expert care for a wide range of rheumatic conditions. With years of experience in diagnosing, treating, and managing complex rheumatological disorders, I pride myself on offering patient-centred care that is thorough, compassionate, and personalised.

As a specialist in rheumatology, my approach to treatment goes beyond just symptom management. I believe in taking a holistic view of each patient's health, considering not only their physical symptoms but also their emotional and mental wellbeing. Effective communication is a cornerstone of my practice; I take the time to listen to my patients, ensuring that all concerns are addressed and that every individual receives the care that is right for them.

I have extensive experience in treating a broad range of conditions within the field of rheumatology, including:

  • Back pain – chronic and acute back pain management, including disc issues, muscle strain, and inflammatory causes
  • Connective tissue disorders – management of conditions affecting the connective tissues, including lupus and scleroderma
  • Inflammatory rheumatic disorders – treatment of conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis
  • Osteoarthritis – joint pain management and therapies to improve mobility and quality of life
  • Osteoporosis – prevention and treatment of bone thinning and fractures
  • Rheumatoid arthritis – early diagnosis and personalised treatment plans to manage symptoms and slow disease progression
  • Vasculitis – comprehensive care for inflammation of the blood vessels, including diagnosis and management
  • Soft tissue rheumatism – treatment for disorders affecting muscles, ligaments, and tendons, such as tendonitis and bursitis
  • Fibromyalgia – approaches to managing chronic pain and fatigue, alongside other symptoms of fibromyalgia

I understand that every patient is unique, which is why I provide individualised care plans tailored to your specific needs. From the initial diagnosis to treatment, my goal is to help you improve your health, alleviate pain, and regain an active, fulfilling lifestyle.

I also recognise the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to care. I work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and pain management specialists, to ensure you receive comprehensive care that addresses all aspects of your condition.
