Dr Ashish Shetty

I am a Consultant in Pain Medicine with for over 15 years experience in this field, specialising in complex pain management, neuromodulation, and pelvic pain. My approach combines cutting-edge techniques with a patient-centred focus, resulting in improved outcomes and satisfaction.

I am internationally recognised for my expertise, having led numerous educational initiatives, multidisciplinary collaborations, and high-impact projects. As a pioneer in establishing advanced pain services and training programs, I bring a unique blend of clinical excellence and innovation to my practice.

I specialise in advanced pain management with a focus on neuromodulation, spinal pain, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) and pelvic pain conditions. My expertise includes treatments such as spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, radiofrequency ablation, and ultrasound-guided interventions.

I also manage complex cases involving persistent post-surgical pain, chronic pelvic pain, and neuropathic pain syndromes. Additionally, I have extensive experience in multidisciplinary approaches to treat complex pain pain conditions.

To date, I have performed over 1,000 neuromodulation procedures, including spinal cord stimulation, dorsal root ganglion stimulation, peripheral nerve stimulation, external neuromodulation and Pulsed radiofrequency procedures. I have conducted more than 2,000 interventional pain management procedures, such as radiofrequency ablation and ultrasound-guided nerve blocks.

My extensive experience spans over 15 years in both NHS and private practice, managing complex pain conditions with a patient-centred, outcomes-focused approach.

In addition to my clinical practice, I hold several esteemed positions that enhance my contribution to Pain Medicine. I am an Honorary Associate Professor at UCL, London, and a Visiting Professor of Anesthesiology & Pain Medicine at SSAHE. As President of the Royal Society of Medicine's Pain Section, I lead initiatives to advance education and practice in the field.

I serve as Consultant at UCLH and Cleveland Clinic London, where I am the Lead for Neuromodulation. I am the Regional Advisor in Pain Medicine for the Faculty of Pain Medicine, UK. I also contribute as Faculty for UCL's Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery program and as a core committee member of the London School of Regional Anaesthesia.

My roles include being a Senior Fellow and Council Member of the London Pain Forum, a Medical Appraiser for Consultants, and Course Director for the Abdomino-Pelvic Pain Symposium. I lead the MSc Neuromodulation Module at UCL. Additionally, I am a reviewer for Neuromodulation, British Journal of Pain, and BMJ, and an Examiner at University College London Medical School.
