Specialises in
I qualified at St Bartholemew’s and the Royal London Medical School. Most of my training was in the prestigious North West Thames Trauma and Orthopaedic rotation. After completing my training, I specialised in a fellowship in knee surgery at the Royal Berkshire and have remained there as a consultant ever since.
I specialise in all knee conditions. This includes sports injury (ligament and cartilage surgery), deformity surgery around the knee (osteotomy), knee replacement (total and partial), knee fracture surgery, patella (kneecap) instability and knee keyhole surgery.
I treat a variety of patients in my role as an expert Knee Surgeon. This includes those with issues ranging for osteoarthritis of the knee, to elite sports people with ligament and cartilage injury.
I pride myself on a unique understanding of the fact that every patient is individual and has different requirements. It is of utmost importance that the needs of every patient I meet are listened to and a treatment plan is tailored based on a detailed history, careful examination of the knee and further detailed imaging as necessary.
The landscape of orthopaedic surgery changes over time, and this is something I have an acute awareness of. I regularly attend international meetings and am up to date with the cutting-edge and best techniques. I have been involved in the care of many top-level elite athletes and have a deep understanding of the attention to detail and what it takes to get the best result possible. I am frequently referred complex cases by colleagues both in the context of knee replacement and ligament surgery.
I am a respected teacher and educator for junior doctors, allied healthcare professionals and medical students. I have a pivotal role in Brunel Medical School, being head of orthopaedics, and being responsible for aspects of curriculum design. Previously I had a substantial teaching commitment at Imperial College, having completed a Masters in University Learning and Teaching at the institution. I also have a strong interest in research and am currently undertaking several projects at the Royal Berkshire Hospital and aim to conduct innovative educational research at Brunel Medical School. I also instruct as an advanced trauma and life support educator, teaching other senior doctors.
