I have been a consultant general and laparoscopic colorectal surgeon based at Mid Cheshire Hospital for six years and I specialise in treating colonic, rectal and anal conditions including bowel cancer.
As a lead colorectal surgeon at my hospital, I ensure the delivery of a high standard, latest, safe and efficient patient care through a multidisciplinary team approach. I am also a Cheshire and Mersey Deanery Educational and Clinical Tutor for Colorectal Surgery Specialty Trainee doctors, and my research interests include bowel cancer, minimally invasive surgery, enhanced recovery after surgery and day case surgery.
My key clinical interests include minimally invasive treatment for a wide range of bowel disorders like anorectal bleeding, haemorrhoids, bowel cancer, diverticular disease, anal fistula and fissure and pilonidal sinus surgery.
I trained in Pakistan, England, and France in surgery. I worked as a Junior Surgical Trainee at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and worked as a Senior Trainee Registrar for six years in the West Midlands. I completed an early Rectal Cancer Fellowship (Transanal endoscopic microsurgery, TEMS) in Surrey and Transanal Total Mesorectal Excision (TATME) in Bordeaux, France, in 2017.
I have been on the GMC Specialist Register since April 2018. I set up and developed the Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery department at Bronglais Hospital Aberystwyth, Wales in 2019 and have held my current consultant post at the Mid Cheshire Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since August 2019
