Virtual consultations:
I am an award winning, experienced Private Consultant Dermatologist and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. I have broad experience in all aspects of general dermatology, for adults and children, including dermatological surgery.
I aim to provide comprehensive, holistic and personalised care in a dignified and safe environment for all patients. I practice at Spire Manchester Hospital as well as their clinic in Hale, Cheshire.
I have over two decades of experience in dermatology and use the most contemporaneous healthcare technologies, including non-surgical skin cancer treatments (photodynamic therapy) and the novel biological and anti-inflammatory medications for atopic dermatitis (eczema), urticaria, hair loss and psoriasis.
I am a fully qualified specialist to treat children and adults with dermatological problems and have full membership in professional bodies such as the British Society for Paediatric and Adult Dermatology, the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
I have extensive knowledge and experience of allergy and am in an excellent position to give advice on tests that are relevant to skin conditions.
I attended schools in Manchester before going to Edinburgh University to study medicine, where I attained a First Class Honours degree in medical sciences. I undertook postgraduate medical training in prestigious units in Edinburgh and the Hammersmith Hospital, London. I received formal dermatology training in the dermatology units in Edinburgh and Manchester.
I undertook a fellowship in the Medical University of South Carolina, in a world-renowned centre for urticaria research and treatment, and subsequently set up the internationally recognised (UCARE) Manchester Urticaria Clinic at Salford Royal Hospital, which supports teaching and ongoing research.
I am frequently asked to speak at national and international meetings and conferences and participate in international meetings for urticaria (UCARE) and eczema (ADCARE). I contribute to national and international guidelines on urticaria and have published extensively in key dermatology and allergy journals. I continue to be involved in clinical trials and give advice to pharmaceutical companies and trial centres.
I have served as a core member of the Skin Cancer MDT at the dermatology centre in Salford and can provide surgical and the latest medical treatments for this including photodynamic therapy at Spire Manchester Hospital.
As an experienced clinician at Spire, I am chair of the Governance Committee and a core member of the Medical Advisory Committee. I also sit on the paediatric steering group.
