To date, (2016) I have performed over 5,000 gastroscopies including therapeutic procedures such as oesophageal dilatation, treatment of bleeding ulcers and banding of varices. I have performed over 1,000 colonoscopies/polypectomies and over 1,200 ERCPs with stent insertions/stone extractions over a 10 year period in both my NHS and private practice at Spire Murrayfield, Wirral. I regularly see and manage complex liver and GI diseases in my clinics - referred specifically for my expert opinion. I also perform Fibroscan to measure liver stiffness which indicates severity of underlying liver disease without need for liver biopsy.

My training includes an initial five years in Gastroenterology from the Mersey Region during which I gained expertise in all endoscopic procedures such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP, (endoscopy of bile duct and pancreas). I competed nationally for the Advanced Fellowship in the Liver Unit, QE Hospital Birmingham, which is one of the most prestigious liver transplant centres in Europe. I was formally awarded specialty accreditation in Hepatology by National Training Board in 2007. In 2010 I was awarded a travelling fellowship to South Carolina, USA by the British Society of Gastroenterology to further my skills in specialised endoscopy. I was conferred Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians in 2011.

I am passionate about education, teaching and research. I am very much involved in formal training of doctors and nurses at Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. I run an advanced endoscopy fellowship programme for registrars at Arrowe Park Hospital and impart training in advanced endoscopy. I am also an examiner for the Royal College of Physicians. In addition, I teach regularly on the endoscopy courses in Medical School of Endoscopy. In my previous two year tenure as Clinic Lead of Gastroenterology services on the Wirral, I contributed tremendously to development of GI services, expansion of endoscopy unit and team and improved patient outcomes.

I base my care on latest scientific evidence and innovations currently available. I believe in patient centered approach and aim to offer a personalised service to my patients from start to finish. I consider myself as very approachable, meticulous and pragmatic in my practice. I like to spend time with my patients explaining the diagnosis with the help of diagrams and information leaflets and offer tailored advice and treatment options.
