Dr Anneka Biswas, Consultant Respiratory Physician, says if you've been diagnosed with COPD, you can choose from a variety of treatment options. Medical treatment includes inhalers and tablets.
Endobronchial valve insertion is the most common type of surgery performed. A bronchoscope is used to insert three to five valves into your lungs. It usually requires you to stay in hospital for one to four days. It may take two to three months for you to recover from surgery. The operation has the advantage of drastically improving your quality of life by lowering your breathlessness.
