Virtual consultations:
I am a Consultant Rheumatologist offering private rheumatology care. My work involves outpatient care for general rheumatological problems, early inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue disorders and vasculitis. In my clinic I am able to offer musculoskeletal ultrasound during the consultation, to assist diagnosis of rheumatological disease.
Until I moved to the UK in 2003, I was Associate Professor of Medicine and Head of the Unit of Rheumatology at a University Hospital in India. I undertook further training in rheumatology in the UK within the Eastern Deanery. I completed my postgraduate training in internal medicine (1994) and clinical immunology-rheumatology (1998) in India. I set up a unit of rheumatology and immunology at Pokhara (Nepal) and Manipal (India). I was involved in undergraduate medical students teaching from 1991 onwards including teaching for one year at Melaka Manipal Medical College in Malaysia. I was also an undergraduate examiner for medicine and a designated examiner for rheumatology.
As part of my immunology-rheumatology training I learned major immunological laboratory techniques and rheumatological procedures. My previous experience in internal medicine has given me confidence in managing emergency care, in-patient and outpatient care for acute medical patients.
I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GP letter of referral.
