I have worked as a Consultant Gastroenterologist for over fourteen years and have gained expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. I have also got interests in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory bowel disease, clinical nutrition, liver diseases excluding chronic viral hepatitis, coeliac disease, acid reflux and peptic ulcer.
I have performed several thousand endoscopic procedures during my career in Gastroenterology, spanning over 18 years.
In addition to my clinical work, I enjoy teaching. I am a senior academy tutor for undergraduates from Birmingham Medical School. I also teach postgraduates and am an examiner for MRCP PACES for the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and I'm also the training lead for endoscopy at my NHS practice and educational supervisor for gastroenterology specialist trainees.
I am an Honorary Consultant at University Hospital Birmingham. I am involved in several clinical trials predominantly involving inflammatory bowel disease through the West Midlands CRN- NIHR Clinical Research Network.
