I am a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist, specialising in the management of patients with heart rhythm disorders. I am trained in cardiac catheter ablation, an invasive treatment option for patients with atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, SVT, ectopics and ventricular tachycardia. I am accredited in cardiac devices, implanting loop recorders, pacemakers and defibrillators. I am the only implanter of leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous ICDs in the North of Scotland.
I qualified as a Doctor in 2008, having studied at both the University of Cambridge and Imperial College School of Medicine. As a junior doctor I worked in North Hampshire, where I developed a passion for Cardiology, and a strong desire to become an Electrophysiologist. I subsequently trained in Cardiology across the Wessex region, undertaking dedicated Electrophysiology Fellowships in Bournemouth and Southampton.
On completing my training, I was appointed to the prestigious role of AVATAR Fellow at St George's University Hospital London, where I developed advanced skills in VT ablation, including through epicardial access. In 2021 I was appointed as a Locum Consultant in Electrophysiology at King's College Hospital, London. In May 2022, I relocated with my family to Aberdeenshire, having been offered a substantive Consultant role at NHS Grampian.
I remain in this role to date, providing expert care to patients with heart rhythm problems from across the North of Scotland and the Northern Isles. In 2023 I was elected as a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in London and in 2024 I was elected as a Council Member of the Scottish Cardiac Society.
I have a keen interest in academic research and teaching. In 2020, I was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton. My research, which primarily concerned the development of a personalised sensing vector for the subcutaneous ICD, was awarded the Young Investigator's Award at Heart Rhythm Congress in 2018. I am currently an Honorary Senior Lecturer, and Year 1 lead for Cardiology, at the University of Aberdeen.

I live in Aberdeenshire with my wife, three young children and an ever-expanding collection of pets. I am a keen cricketer; playing regularly in the Aberdeenshire Grade Leagues as well as coaching the junior section at my club. I am also a qualified rugby referee and was previously part of the RFU South-West Group. I have the somewhat unique achievement of having represented the Royal College of Physicians at cricket and the Royal College of Surgeons at rugby.
