I am a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology working at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust and am currently clinical lead for my service as well as being the clinical lead for the Acute Diabetes Multidisciplinary Foot service and chair of the East of England Diabetes Footcare network. I have a broad-based training in all aspects of general medical conditions, subspecialising in Diabetes and Endocrinology. Key treatments I offer include investigation and management of thyroid disease including thyroid nodules, pituitary, adrenal conditions, diabetes, obesity, polycystic ovarian syndrome and menstrual disorders, fatigue, hyponatraemia and other electrolyte and metabolic abnormalities.
I successfully championed and led on proper commissioning and development of a NICE-compliant specialist integrated diabetes foot service for West Hertfordshire. I have developed numerous local care pathways and guidelines to raise awareness of best clinical practice to support high quality patient care. I also have a strong educational interest and was past Royal College of Physicians College Tutor, Foundation Programme Training Director as well as Deputy Training Programme Director for core medical trainees for Health Education east of England.
I am strongly committed to providing a personal high quality clinical and professional service to my patients and GP colleagues.
I led on setting up a specialist integrated diabetes foot service, championing for proper commissioning and timely access for patients as well as raising awareness and educating healthcare professionals and patients to improve clinical experience and outcomes. I also structured and set up the 2ww referral clinical pathway for thyroid lumps for St Albans and Hemel Hempstead, including video linking with the Luton & Dunstable Hospitals Head & Neck & Thyroid cancer network to ensure patients management were safely peer-reviewed.
I have a strong educational interest and believe passionately in the importance of educating patients and staff to empower them to provide the best clinical care and safeguard patient safety.
I undertook my specialist training with North Thames primarily at St Mary's Hospital, London where I undertook a period of clinical research. I was appointed as a Consultant Physician with a specialist interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology in 2003 and currently work at St Albans City, Hemel Hempstead and Watford General Hospitals.

As many other working parents, keeping a healthy work-life balance is not always easy especially with the growing demands and pressures of modern society. I try to keep fit doing body work-out, yoga, pilates and have also recently taken up playing golf. I also play badminton and enjoy doing gardening as well as listening to music, musicals and going to the theatre and movies.
