I am a Consultant Rheumatologist at Spire Hartswood and Spire London East private hospitals in Brentwood and Redbridge, Essex, offering private rheumatology care in their clean and comfortable hospitals.

I have been a consultant rheumatologist since 1994. Until 2011, I worked as a consultant rheumatologist and clinical director of musculoskeletal services at Queen's Hospital Romford, part of Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. I am now a fully private consultant rheumatologist.

My clinical interests are in rheumatoid arthritis, lupus and connective tissue disorders, osteoporosis, Paget's disease, adolescent rheumatology, shoulder disorders, RSI, reflex sympathetic dystrophy and hypermobility. My research interests are in combination therapy in rheumatoid arthritis and fracture prevention.

In the NHS as clinical director I previously developed a wide range of services for patients including patient centred clinics in SLE and osteoporosis, joint injection clinics, telephone clinics and, more recently, combined antenatal clinics with patients with SLE and a combined kyphoplasty clinic for patients with osteoporosis. I am currently a member of the Medical Advisory Committee and clinical lead for the Clinical Governance Committee at Spire Hartswood Hospital.

I have previously been involved in the development of care pathways, national guidelines and quality and outcome measures in rheumatology and participated in external peer review. In addition, I have promoted patient involvement in their care previously working with the Trust's Patient Partnership Forum and with the National Patient Safety Agency.

I am a consultant advisor to The National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society. I remain a member of the British Society for Rheumatology. I published over 20 research articles in peer review journals.

I completed my training at St Andrew's University and Guy's Hospital and was Senior Registrar in the Oxford region. I obtained an MSc in immunology in 1984 at Imperial College. I was previously a medical officer in the Territorial Army (Royal Signals).
