I specialise in the treatment of abnormal heart rhythms. I provide a full range of treatments for patients with heart rhythm problems, including catheter ablation, pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy. I have a particular interest in the catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.
I qualified from Downing College, Cambridge University in 1998 and have specialised in Cardiology since 2002. I was awarded a PhD from Kings College London in 2007. I completed a Masters degree in Sports Cardiology at St George’s, University of London, in 2018. I am currently the Clinical Lead for Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Bristol Heart Institute. I trained at two leading international centres (St Bartholomew's Hospital, London and L'Hopital Haut Leveque, Bordeaux, France). I became a Consultant in 2011.
I manage inherited cardiac conditions in a speciality NHS clinic at the Bristol Heart Institute. I care for survivors of cardiac arrest and screen family members for inherited causes. I was awarded a scholarship by the charity CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) to complete my Sports Cardiology Masters degree. I am a keen distance runner and through this have developed my interest in Sports Cardiology. I am trained in pre-participation screening of athletes and management of arrhythmia in athletes. I am particularly interested in arrhythmia in veteran athletes.
