Throughout my training I acquired extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal (GI) disorders including complex Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), Barrett’s Oesophagus, upper and lower GI cancer, pancreaticobiliary, functional and GI dysmotility disorders.

I have performed more than 5,000 endoscopic procedures, with an unadjusted colonoscopy completion rate of 95%, a polyp detection rate of 66%, with a low sedation and excellent comfort scores; this is despite undertaking difficult and complex endoscopic procedures, including those patients referred to me by other consultant colleagues. I am proficient in diagnostic and therapeutic gastroscopy (including all modalities for emergency UGI bleeds), flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy and ERCP (for gallstones, jaundice and bile duct exploration).

My private practice reflects my NHS practice and includes investigating and managing general and complex gastroenterology disease, including acid reflux and indigestion, Barrett’s oesophagus, food intolerances and allergies as well as autoimmune conditions such as Coeliac disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Inflammatory Bowel Disease.

I am accredited as a National Bowel Cancer Screening Colonoscopist and have a twice weekly dedicated therapeutic list for EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection); allowing the removal of large polyps without the need for surgery. In addition, I also introduced and undertake a regular deep sedation list for prolonged therapeutic procedures as well as for those who are unable to tolerate endoscopic investigations under conscious sedation.

I have a subspecialty interest in Endoscopy and was awarded and undertook a Fellowship in Advanced Endoscopy at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. It was during this time that I further developed my endoscopic skills in several areas, including resection of large benign polyps, ERCP and balloon enteroscopy.

I graduated from King's College, London in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Pharmacology and Leicester University Medical School in 2003. I completed my postgraduate specialist training in the East of England (Cambridge) deanery training rotation and am dual accredited in both Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine. I was awarded with an MRCP (Gastroenterology) in 2011 and a certificate of completion of training in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine in March 2015. In 2019 I was awarded with a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP).

I am the Clinical Director and Lead for Endoscopy and have been working as a Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital since 2015. In 2019, I led the Trust Endoscopy Department through the Royal College of Physicians ‘JAG Accreditation’ process and visit, achieving outstanding reviews from the assessors and awarded the Trust ‘Team of the Month’.

I chair the quarterly Endoscopy Clinical Governance meeting and am a core member of the Colorectal Multidisciplinary Team. I am the lead for JETS Endoscopy training (training endoscopists of the future) and regularly act as an external faculty member on JAG accredited training courses, in other Trusts, around the country.
