Dr Fayyaz Musa

Consultant Eye Surgeon

MBChB FRCOphth CertLRS PGDipCRS

Ophthalmology has been a passion of mine for over a decade. I feel privileged to work in a branch of medicine that has constantly innovated and evolved and now has an array of successful life-changing treatment options for patients. My training has been extensive and I have actively sought training in the most advanced, successful and safest forms of surgery.

I am one of a handful of surgeons who is fellowship trained in treating both corneal disorders and glaucoma. My practice of medicine has always had a firm emphasis on a patient centred approach. I value taking the time to ensure you are fully informed of your condition and of all the available treatment options and their relative risks and benefits. This is vital in making the correct choice for something as precious as your sight.

I was privileged to receive a ‘best in category’ award by the American Academy (the most prestigious international meeting). Another was selected as a highlight of the conference by MedScape (a major online medical news channel). I am a corneal transplantation (DMEK) course instructor at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Conference. I have 12 publications in international journals and over 25 presentations at national and international meetings.

When time allows fishing has been a passion of mine since boyhood. Starting out fishing for Tiger fish as a young boy on the Zambezi, I now fish the rivers and streams of Yorkshire for trout and grayling. Nevertheless pit stops in Southern Oman hunting for salt water giants and the Maldives searching out reef thugs keeps the adrenaline urge satisfied!
