I am a Consultant Physician and Rheumatologist with specialist accreditation in General Medicine and Rheumatology. I am Honorary Consultant Physician at Epsom General Hospital, Surrey and see private patients at the hospitals listed on this website.
I treat all aspects of rheumatology and general medicine, in particular rheumatoid arthritis, including dietary aspects, osteoporosis, gout, ankylosing spondylitis, hyperlipidaemia and bereavement counselling.
I graduated from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, London University and received my Doctorate from the University of London. I qualified in medicine from the University of London, from where I was also awarded an MD for a thesis on lipid and purine metabolism. I was awarded the Charing Cross Hospital’s Trustees’ Research Fellowship, the Michael Mason Medal for my work on ultrasound in Rheumatology, and a Private Patients’ Plan Research Fellowship at Jesus College, Cambridge.
I am also Clinical Lead for sponsoring medical research.

I have a widely-ranging research programme linked to the University of Glasgow and involving osteoporosis, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, stroke, neuroprotection, neurodevelopment, Huntington’s disease, depression, chronic brain injury, cardiac bypass surgery, malaria, trypanosomiasis, the use of flavonoids in medicine and various aspects of nutritional immunology. I founded Epsom Medical Research – a registered charity – has published over 50 peer-reviewed research papers and has co-edited four books.
