I manage all aspects of both type 1 and type 2 diabetes and its complications. I have an interest in obesity and bariatric medicine. I am also interested in thyroid, parathyroid, vitamin D and adrenal disorders. I have been a Consultant Endocrinologist, Diabetologist and Acute Physician at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust since May 2010.
I underwent my initial postgraduate training in Manchester and obtained MRCP (UK) in 2002.
I pursued my career in field of diabetic neuropathy as a clinical research fellow at the University of Manchester, Manchester Medical School where I completed my MD thesis titled 'Studies in the Pathogenesis and management of diabetic neuropathy and foot ulceration'.
My endocrine, diabetes and general medicine training commenced when I took up a registrar post as part of the North West rotation. I have a keen interest in type 2 diabetes, obesity and bariatric medicine, Vitamin D deficiency, thyroid and parathyroid disorders.
I have an interest in and am actively involved in both post and undergraduate medical education.
I am an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Manchester as well as an undergraduate tutor at Tameside Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. In addition to this I am the Mortality lead at my trust.
