MD, PGDip (MedEd), MSc, PhD, MRCP (UK)
I am a Consultant Allergist in one of the UK’s largest Departments of Allergy at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Manchester. I have been working in the field for over seven years.
I have extensive experience in all aspects of allergy care, including anaphylaxis, food allergy, drug allergy, rhinitis (hay fever), latex allergy, venom allergy, urticaria (hives), angioedema (swelling), asthma, and eczema. I also perform highly specialist work in the areas of general anaesthetic allergy, drug challenges, food challenges, and immunotherapy (desensitisation). I treat teenagers (16 years old and above) and adult patients.
I qualified in medicine in 2006, and completed the Academic Core Medical Training Programme in Wales Deanery. I was awarded a competitive NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in Allergy, and completed my specialty training at the largest UK Adult Allergy Department at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in London. I have successfully taken the European (EAACI/UEMS) Knowledge Exam in Allergology and Clinical Immunology. I am one of only a small number of Consultants in the UK with this qualification and specialist accreditation in Allergy.
I have broad experience in laboratory and clinical research, and have completed a master's degree and PhD in Immunology. I contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, and hold a postgraduate diploma in medical education. I am named clinical and educational supervisor for Allergy Specialty Registrars. I am a published author in the fields of basic immunology, drug and food allergy, and telemedicine.
I am a member of the British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology, European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, World Allergy Organization, Anaphylaxis Campaign, Royal College of Physicians of London, and Hellenic Society of Immunology.
