MBBCh, MSc, MD, MRCP
I graduated from Cairo University, Egypt and initially trained at Cairo University Hospitals in general and interventional cardiology and obtained my masters and doctorate degrees in cardiology. I then specialised in cardiac electrophysiology and devices and trained in my sub-speciality at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in Manchester, St Bartholomew's Hospital in London and Lille University Hospitals in France. All three centres are large volume tertiary referral university hospitals.
My first consultant appointment was in February 2012 as a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Barts Health NHS trust and I moved to my current post at the Bristol Heart Institute in 2013. My practice involves assessment and care of patients with arrhythmias causing palpitations, transient loss of consciousness, etc. as well as heart failure patients with electrical abnormalities causing delays in conduction of cardiac impulses.
Procedures that I regularly perform include ablation of heart rhythm abnormalities and implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronisation therapy devices (that retime the failing heart).
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Ihab Diab at Spire include:
Cardiology
Other treatments
Cardiology: Arrhythmia (electrophysiology) atrial fibrillation.
