MBBS, MRCP (UK)
I am a consultant nephrologist based at the Wirral University Teaching Hospital for the past 20 years. I treat patients with kidney ailments both on the Wirral and Cheshire. Diabetes and hypertension are the two most common causes of Chronic Kidney Disease. Both are entirely preventable; if not at least amenable to slowing down progressive decline to end stage kidney disease. I have a special interest in prevention of acute and chronic kidney disease, management of difficult to control hypertension and diabetic kidney disease.
I received excellent training in all aspects of renal and acute medicine at the Royal Liverpool and Broadgreen University Teaching Hospital and the Wirral University Teaching Hospital. I gained competency in the investigation and management of acute and chronic kidney disease, all modalities of renal replacement therapy which includes home dialysis like peritoneal and haemodialysis and renal transplantation.
I developed referral guidelines for local General Practitioners which involved multiple teaching services to various GPs at their surgeries.
