Dr John Chang

Consultant Paediatrician

MB ChB, BSc, FRCPCH

I have a degree in medical microbiology. My undergraduate training was at Bristol Medical University and I graduated in 1982. I spent initial house jobs in the West Country before embarking on a career in Paediatrics that spanned a wide variety of hospitals including Leicester teaching hospitals and London hospitals including Charing Cross and Westminster Children’s Hospital.

I undertook a year of experience as a Senior Registrar in neonatology at The Mater Hospital in Brisbane, Australia before returning to the UK to complete my training in general paediatrics with specialisation in neonatal intensive care. I was appointed to Mayday Hospital in 1993 where I am currently working. I have strong links and work closely with the neonatologists at St George’s Hospital, Tooting, where I also hold an honorary senior lecturer position. I also teach medical students, nursing and medical staff in general paediatrics as well as neonatal intensive care. I am also a qualified Neonatal and Paediatric Advance Life Support Instructor.

I am a clinical lead in general paediatrics and neonates, and have an interest in research and development, sitting on the R&D committee at Mayday. I am a joint clinical lead for South West London neonatal network since 2008.
