Specialises in
Virtual consultations:
I have been a consultant gastroenterologist and endoscopist for over 20 years following my appointment in 1996. For over ten of those years, I was the director of a regional endoscopy training centre providing a full programme of 'hands-on' training courses for generations of endoscopists in training including medical, surgical and nurse endoscopist trainees.
I am an accredited bowel cancer screening colonoscopist and was, in fact, one of the first cohort of a dozen endoscopists in the country to complete the accreditation process in October 2005 in preparation for the launching of the national bowel cancer screening programme. I have been the clinical director of one of the local programmes caring for a population of over 600,000 since 2010.
My interests are in endoscopy and in endoscopy training.
I perform in excess of 850 endoscopic procedure per year in my current practice. I began endoscopic practice in 1987 and my lifetime experience of colonoscopy is significantly greater than 10 000 procedures.
I am clinical lead for Endoscopy at Spire Washington Hospital and successfully led the unit through our last JAG accreditation visit.
