Virtual consultations:
I graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1994. I have been a consultant in diabetes, endocrinology and general medicine since 2007. My PhD is on the immunology of endocrine autoimmune disease, and was awarded in 2005 from the University of Edinburgh.
My interests include endocrine autoimmune disease eg thyroid disease and Addison's disease, however, my NHS practice encompasses the full range of endocrine disorders including pituitary disease, calcium disorders and PCOS.
In my diabetes practice, I take a patient centred care approach. My interests are in the newer drugs used in Type 2 diabetes, and all aspects of Type 1 diabetes.
I am a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and have a keen interest in medical education, and am currently completing a masters in clinical education. I am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and a member of the Academy of Medical Educators.
