MB ChB
I qualified from Leeds University in 1983. I undertook my basic medical training in Exeter, Bromsgrove, Birmingham and London. I initially trained as a GP and worked in a two doctor practice in East London for six years. From 1996-2002 I retrained as a dermatologist and worked as a consultant at Whipps Cross UHT and The Royal London Hospital until 2021.
I am a general dermatologist and see patients of all ages including children. I see patients with all types of skin conditions.
I have a special interest in female genital disease and ran the specialist vulval clinics at Whipps Cross and The Royal London for 20 years.
I am a co-chair of the dermatology GPwER accreditation programme which is administered by the BAD. We accredit GPs who work alongside secondary care consultant dermatologists to provide enhanced services for their patients.
I have always had a strong interest in medical appraisal and revalidation. I work with NHS-E to undertake appraisals of higher level ROs.
I am a member of the BAD Retinoids committee. The committee works closely with the MHRA and other consultant dermatologists to ensure continued safe prescribing of retinoids eg isotretinoin for acne.
I provide ad hoc dermatology advice to The Vulval Pain Society which is a charity providing education and support for people affected with vulvodynia.
