I am a Consultant Gynaecologist based in Edinburgh. I have over 15 years experience working in gynaecology. My NHS practice is at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh where I am the clinical lead for endometriosis in our multidisciplinary BSGE nationally accredited centre for expert endometriosis care. I am a specialist in endometriosis and have extensive experience in managing this condition.
I also have a special interest in Sports Gynaecology. I have a strong sporting background having previously competed for Scotland in both cross-country and middle distance running. I am interested in the impact of sport on gynaecological function and wellbeing but also the effect of gynaecological conditions on training and competition. I work closely with the sports physicians in Edinburgh and I am also part of a UK wide multidisciplinary sports gynaecology network.
I graduated from Edinburgh University in 2003. The majority of my training in obstetrics and gynaecology was carried out in Edinburgh. My final two years of training were (via competitive entry) in Bristol at a specialist endometriosis centre. I also spent some time working abroad. I obtained my MD from the University of Edinburgh in 2014 and was appointed as a Consultant the same year.
