"Fantastic helpful and friendly staff providing a great atmosphere to work in. All the staff are committed to providing a supportive environment for each and every patient."
I qualified from Oxford University in 1997 and came to Nottingham shortly after. I have been a GP here for 20 years. I have always taken a keen interest in women's health but more recently that of menopause care. I offer advice on and can prescribe various hormonal and non-hormonal treatments including body identical HRT and testosterone. I am a member of the British Menopause Society.
My interest in the perimenopause and menopause came from both a personal and professional quest for knowledge and a better understanding of the impact that hormonal changes can have on both our physical and mental health. The likes of Davina McCall and Dr Louise Newson have highlighted the importance of women having a better understanding of the treatment options available to them. Increasing evidence around both the risks and benefits of HRT now allow us to make more informed decisions about the type of HRT that is prescribed.
I take huge pride in my holistic approach to my patients' healthcare and the value of involving patients in decisions about their management. I am keen for my patients to have a good understanding of their own individual health needs and, through communication and education, aim to empower them to live better, healthier and longer lives. I pride myself in providing individualised and evidence-based advice and treatments for all women.
I have managed hundreds of perimenopausal and menopausal patients throughout my career in General Practice but my work at Spire allows me to cover the wider community encompassing Nottingham, Leicester, Loughborough and the wider East Midlands area.
Recent changes in access to and availability of body identical HRT has made this safer and more affordable for all women but decisions around treatments in this area can be complex and the time pressure on General Practice makes it difficult for some women to be given the full opportunity to go through this.
The private setting here at Spire enables me to provide my patients with the time they deserve to explore their symptoms and the impact these are having on their lives both at home and at work. I can explore their concerns around their changing body and look closely at their individual risks and benefits of taking HRT in both the short and long term.
I am passionate about the benefits women can gain from a better understanding about the hormonal changes they go through during their lives. I am delighted that my clinics at Spire will allow me to help more women on their journey towards a happier, healthier, longer and more productive life.

I love spending the time when I am not at work with both my family and friends. My husband and I have three teenage sons. We enjoy walking our dog as much we do good food and wine. I am a keen cyclist, although my bike does tend to get put to one side for the Peloton during the winter months, and I also enjoy the rather more relaxing pastime of yoga.
We live for our trips to Cornwall and the South of France and The Alps and are grateful every year that we can persuade both our kids and our friends to join us!
