I was appointed as a Consultant Anaesthetist in St James's University Hospital, Leeds in 2013 and became the lead consultant for advanced vascular access in 2018. I am an expert in all types of vascular access, from peripherally inserted lines to centrally positioned lines and perform all types of tunnelled lines that are available.

I specialise in all forms of tunnelled venous access lines, particularly port insertions, offering optimal positioning of the port and scar to enable patients to have a continued ability to carry out day to day activities such as hobbies, exercise, work and socialising.

I set up and lead the Vascular Access Specialist Team at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, LTHT, which is responsible for around 4,500 venous line insertions per year. I am part of a working group appointed by the Association of Anaesthetists of Great Britain and Ireland to define a standard for safe vascular access.

To date I have performed over 2,000 vascular access device insertions over a 10 year period in both my NHS and private practice.

I was also appointed Lead Consultant for Obstetric Anaesthesia for St James's Hospital in 2019. My other roles here include Chair of Clinical Information and Outcomes Group and the 'Innovation Champion' for Yorkshire.
