I qualified in 1992 and completed my MD degree in 1996. My basic medical training was in the North-West of England and the subsequent higher training in diabetes and endocrinology was in Wales and the North-West of England.
During my higher training, I completed my PhD from Manchester University following a very prestigious grant from the British Heart Foundation. After completing my training in 2009, I took up a consultant post in diabetes and endocrinology at the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay Foundation Trust and then at the Wirral University Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. Subsequently I moved to my present job at Bolton Foundation NHS Trust in 2015, where I am the current Clinical Lead for Diabetes & Endocrinology.
In 2020, I was selected for the coveted post of Clinical Champion of Diabetes UK. I also serve as a member of the diabetes board of the Greater Manchester and Eastern Cheshire Strategic Clinical Network.
