I am a Consultant Cardiologist who treats private patients at Spire St Anthony's Hospital and Spire Thames Valley Hospital. I have expertise in general cardiology including: angina (chest pain), syncope (collapse or loss of consciousness), palpitations and hypertension (high blood pressure). I have specialist expertise in: diagnosis and treatment of heart failure (symptoms of breathlessness, ankle swelling and fatigue), pacemaker and defibrillator implantation and cardiac resynchronisation therapy (CRT).
I gained my undergraduate medical degrees at Imperial College London and Cardiff University, I then completed general medical training in both tertiary and district hospitals in London. Following a period of research at Harefield Hospital, I completed my cardiology training in the North West Thames rotation (London Deanery). My sub-specialty training was in Heart Failure and Complex Cardiac Devices at the Hammersmith Hospital, Royal Brompton Hospital and Harefield Hospital. I am currently a Consultant Cardiologist at Epsom General Hospital and the Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals NHS Trust.
I was awarded a Clinical Research Fellowship at the Transplant Unit in Harefield Hospital in 2010. I gained my Medical Doctorate research degree (MD Res) studying advanced heart failure and mechanical circulatory support at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London. My current clinical research interests include cardiac device therapy in heart failure patients.
I have an interest in medical education and regularly train undergraduate medical students. I am also an examiner for Imperial College Medical School OSCE tests. I have been teaching the Harefield Hospital PACES courses since 2013.
