I have been a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Worcester for over 18 months, having previously trained in Catheter ablation and Device implantation at Royal Papworth Hospital and Royal Bournemouth Hospital where I completed a Post CCT Fellowship.
My specific interest is cardiac arrhythmia, and I specialise in performing procedures including ablation procedures for abnormal heart rhythms and also pacemaker and defibrillator implantation.
Working at a busy district general hospital, I also see lots of general cardiology patients. This includes a weekly clinic at Worcester and also covering inpatients every couple of months.
I am relatively early in my career, but have performed over 1000 ablation and device procedures since the start of my training. Currently I perform roughly 125 ablations, and 50 device procedures per year (this includes pacemakers and defibrillator implants).
I am passionate about delivering excellent care to patients. Each individual is unique and therefore the treatment plans we offer needs to be tailored to their needs, and I believe in working in partnership with patients when deciding about treatment options.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Dr Omar Shaikh at Spire include:
