In the private sector I practice at Spire Murrayfield Hospital and Spire Shawfair Park Hospital. In 2019 I set up the BSCE accredited Spire Edinburgh Endometriosis Centre, the only private endometriosis centre in Scotland, where I am the lead consultant.Â
Within the NHS I work as part of the Edinburgh EXPPECT Endometriosis Team (I was BSGE accredited Endometriosis Surgeon in 2018 at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and I am now a BSGE Endometriosis Surgeon at Spire Edinburgh Endometriosis Centre).
I have developed a special interest and expertise in the management of pelvic pain, menstrual dysfunction (heavy painful periods), hysteroscopic surgery (resection of fibroids and endometrial ablation) and laparoscopic 'keyhole' surgery for endometriosis and ovarian cysts and adhesions, treatment of prolapse, vaginal hysterectomy and pelvic floor repair, vulval disease, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and major open abdominal surgery including hysterectomy and myomectomy (removal of fibroids). I work closely and communicate effectively with gynae-oncology cancer, colorectal and urogynaecological colleagues to make sure my patients receive the best possible care.
I am a Senior Gynaecologist with almost 30 years clinical experience as a Consultant practising both privately and in the NHS. I aim to provide the highest standard of evidence based care for all my patients. I give my patients my personal mobile phone number so that they can contact me directly.
I am involved in endometriosis research and audit and, as a member of the World Endometriosis Society, I regularly attend the World Congress on Endometriosis. I am a member of the BSGE (British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy) and regularly attend their meetings to keep up to date with the latest developments in laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery.
I currently work part-time in the NHS at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh in the EXPPECT Endometriosis Clinic and also undertake sessions in the Regional Gynae Vulval Skins Clinic and Outpatient Hysteroscopy Clinic. At St John's Hospital Livingston I work in the Menstrual Dysfunction Clinic, Pelvic Pain and Endometriosis Clinics.
I also have regular sessions at Chalmers Sexual Health Clinic and Roodlands Hospital in Haddington, where I carry out a General Gynae Clinic. I was Clinical Director for Gynaecology for NHS Lothian at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh from 2011 to 2014. I completed my GMC Revalidation in March 2019.

Personal profile
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I work closely with my wife who is the Specialist Nurse at the Endometriosis and Pelvic Pain Clinics in Edinburgh. I am very proud of my two children and I am very excited at the prospect of my first grandson who is expected in May 2019. I enjoy playing golf with my son and I always look forward to trips out and holidays with the family. I enjoy walking my dog Franky, a golden retriever, especially on a nice sunny day.
