I was appointed as a Consultant Cardiologist in 1997 at Southend and London Chest hospitals. I have an active interest in a number of areas of cardiological research including: adult coronary intervention, in particular primary PCI for ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction; left main stenting; coronary physiology especially in chronic total occlusions; management of acute coronary syndromes and audit of practice and best utilisation of resources.

I trained at Edinburgh University Medical School (graduated in 1986) and had junior doctor appointments in Edinburgh, Leeds and the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. In 2007 I became the lead cardiologist for the newly opened Essex Cardiothoracic Centre, which I helped to plan and develop.

I have received comprehensive training in all aspects of adult general cardiology with a sub-specialty interest in coronary intervention (angioplasty). I was responsible for developing rotablation services at the CTC and more recently led the development of angioplasty for chronically occluded coronary arteries.

I welcome appropriate patients wishing to refer and pay for treatment themselves without the need for a GPs letter of referral.
