MD, FRCP
I am a cardiologist who trained initially in Leeds and moved to the South coast in 1994. I am interested in all aspects of cardiology including coronary artery disease, cardiac catheterisation, echocardiography and cardiovascular health screening. My main sub-specialty interest in cardiology is cardiac rhythm management (electrophysiology).
I perform all aspects of invasive and non-invasive electrophysiology. This includes radiofrequency catheter ablation and the implantation of devices such as pacemakers, implantable defibrillators (ICDs) and cardiac resynchronisation devices for heart failure.
I have worked in the Wessex Cardiac Unit since 1996. For two years I worked in a number of US centres where I completed my research for my medical doctorate (MD) thesis.
The Heart Rhythm Clinic is a group of four consultants based at Spire Southampton Hospital providing a full range of cardiology consultation services, non-invasive services including echocardiography, rhythm monitoring, 24hr ECG and blood-pressure monitoring, exercise testing and full inpatient investigations. Our range of invasive diagnostic and therapeutics include cardiac catheterisation, coronary angiography, electrophysiology and cardiac stroke prevention services. I have a particular interest in new technologies and am involved in many areas introducing these technologies to clinical practice and research.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Professor Paul Roberts at Spire include:
Cardiology
Other treatments
American Heart Association (AHA)
European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA)
