I have been a consultant for over 15 years specialising in general respiratory illness. I have a national and international reputation and have held and currently hold several leadership positions such as Speciality Lead, Regional Sepcialist Respiratory Lead have a particular interest in diagnosis of unexplained cough, breathlessness and wheeze, asthma, COPD and bronchiectasis. I receive many referrals as second opinions from GP’s and other physicians.
I was Clinical director of respiratory medicine until November 2012 when I stepped down to concentrate on clinical and research work. I have previously served on national committees (eg the British Thoracic Society Standards of Care committee and CCRN). I have a national and international reputation in the treatment and research into mechanisms and novel treatments for lung diseases. I have a special interest in COPD and the rare genetic form of emphysema due to alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency. I run a busy respiratory clinic for general respiratory complaints and conditions.
