Specialises in
I am full time Consultant Rheumatologist based at Salford Royal Hospital, Northern Care Alliance and have over 20 years of clinical experience dealing with the spectrum of rheumatological conditions. My busy clinical job in the NHS where I assess over 1600 patients annually helps maintain my clinical acumen and expertise in managing range of rheumatological conditions, both common and rare.
I was medical student at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital, Mumbai and graduated in 1991. I completed postgraduate studies in General Internal Medicine at JJ Hospitals, Mumbai in 1996 and was awarded MD (Internal Medicine). I completed Specialist Rheumatology training in West Midlands. I was appointed as a full-time Consultant Rheumatologist at Haywood Hospital, Stoke-on-Trent in Dec 2003. I gained experience of managing complex connective tissue disease services, worked on developing early inflammatory arthritis pathway and developed links with other specialties. I recruited to various clinical trials in inflammatory arthritis, lupus, Sjogren's disease and vasculitis whilst working at Haywood Hospital.
I moved to Salford Royal Hospital, NCA in June 2016. Since joining Salford, I have set up combined clinic with Renal Physicians and do weekly Vasculitis & Lupus MDT offering specialist rheumatology input. I represent NCA at regional GCA MDT. My special interests are early inflammatory arthritis, connective tissue diseases like lupus, vasculitis and Sjogren’s disease. Apart from specialist clinics, I also do general rheumatology clinics where I assess patients with gout, ankylosing spondylitis, fibromyalgia, osteoporosis, and rare conditions like sarcoidosis and IgG4 related disease.
I have keen interest in postgraduate and undergraduate education and enjoy teaching. I am Trust Lead for rheumatology at Salford NCA. I have worked as Associate Foundation Programme Director for 2018 -2024. I am Honorary Clinical Lecturer (Teaching) at University of Manchester.
I have private practice privileges at Manchester Spire Hospitals, Orth Team Centre and Hale Spire. I do rheumatology outpatient clinics at Wilmslow Health Centre for Manchester Surgical services and assess over 500 patients per year. I am an active member of British Society for Rheumatology and Royal College of Physicians.

My wife and I enjoy cooking, walking and gardening. I play bridge at a local bridge club and this helps me to keep my brain active and also meet and socialise with people.
My older son enjoys climbing and I go weekly with him to an indoor climbing wall. It's really fun as he is the expert and helps me to improve. My younger son loves sports in general and gives me many opportunities to spend time with him.
