I specialise in the diagnosis and management of gastrointestinal conditions including gastro-oesophageal reflux, Barrett's oesophagus, gastric (stomach) conditions, disorders of the pancreas (pancreatitis, pancreatic cysts, screening for pancreatic cancer), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD - Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis), detection and removal of colonic polyps, screening for bowel (colon) cancer, coeliac disease and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
I also undertake diagnostic and advanced endoscopic procedures - gastroscopy (OGD), colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) including dilatation of strictures, endoluminal stent insertion and therapeutic EUS (endoscopic ultrasound cyst drainage, coeliac plexus blocks, neurolysis) procedures.
I am a Consultant Gastroenterologist, Physician and Endoscopist at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. I was appointed as a Consultant in 2015 at St George's University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London and subsequently moved to Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge in 2017. I am the Programme Director for Cambridge Bowel Cancer Screening programme and an Endoscopy Professional Clinical Advisor for the Screening Quality Assurance Services, NHS England. I am also the Clinical Lead for the Endoscopy Training Academy at Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. I perform diagnostic and advanced endoscopic procedures including gastroscopy, colonoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound and am an accredited bowel screening colonoscopist. I have set up and run a dedicated pancreatic clinic.
I undertake all private consultations and endoscopic procedures myself and work closely with colleagues in radiology, surgery, pathology and dietetics. I have extensive experience in Gastroenterology, Endoscopy and General Medicine and provide appropriate investigations and treatment in a caring and friendly environment. I am constantly seeking to improve and maintain high standards of care through engaging in continuing professional development and involved in teaching and training. I am an active member of the British Society of Gastroenterology.
My clinical and research interests include early detection of gastrointestinal cancers, pancreatic conditions and endoscopic imaging techniques. I have set up and run a pancreatic clinic and the Cambridge Endoscopy Academy and run approved national endoscopy courses at Addenbrooke's Hospital.
