Specialises in
Born and raised in the South of England, I trained in Leeds and was appointed as Consultant Gastroenterologist in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust in 2002. Over the years I have been Clinical Lead for Endoscopy since 2007 - 2018 and held Clinical Director roles from 2009 - 2015. I have authored over 70 peer reviewed articles on multiple topics within gastroenterology and endoscopy.
I have extensive experience in all aspects of clinical gastroenterology including investigation of abdominal symptoms and anaemia, reflux disease, functional bowel disorders, inflammatory bowel diseases and sports related abdominal conditions. My major clinical interests are in pancreatico biliary medicine and diagnostic and interventional endoscopy, particularly ERCP, EUS and management of stricturing diseases.
I have a significant interest in quality improvement in all aspects of endoscopy. I am currently ERCP and EUS Quality Improvement lead for the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG). I am a member of the BSG Endoscopy committee, pancreatic committee and an elected member of the BSG Council. I am a member of the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Guidelines committee and have written the BSG guidelines on Consent for endoscopy (2016) and update (2023). I am a keen endoscopy trainer and have led numerous live endoscopy courses in Leeds, including the transmission to the BSG live event in Birmingham ICC in 2022.
