I graduated in medicine with distinction in 1991 from St. George’s, University of London. I specialise in conditions of the lungs including persistent cough, breathlessness, recurrent chest infections, the investigation of lung cancer and the diagnosis and management of obstructive sleep apnoea.
I undertook specialist respiratory and intensive care medicine training in London. During this period, I was awarded a Wellcome Trust Training Fellowship to study tuberculosis. This culminated in the award of a PhD in molecular microbiology from Imperial College in 2003.
I have been a consultant chest physician at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust since 2004. I am a specialist in respiratory and general internal medicine.
I have been a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians since 2007 and was awarded a founding Fellowship of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management in 2018.
In the 2021 New Year’s Honours, I was awarded the MBE for services to the NHS during the Covid-19 pandemic.
