MBBS, DCH, MRCPCH, PG Cert in Allergy (University of Southampton)
I see children who present with a wide spectrum of general paediatric problems in both the acute and outpatient setting. I accept referrals from GPs, dietitians, self-referrals from patients with a backup letter from a GP to follow and other consultant colleagues and specialists.
I underwent my initial training in Paediatrics in India and further paediatric training in Leeds, Yorkshire. I have been a Consultant Paediatrician at Hull Royal Infirmary for more than seven years. I am the lead for paediatric allergy at Hull Royal Infirmary and run a very busy NHS practice which provides all the paediatric allergy secondary care for Hull. I personally see in excess of 1,200 patients with allergic diseases per year.
I see children with common allergic conditions. An allergy consultation would involve an allergy focused history to explore the causative allergen (food or air-borne allergen) and other associated atopic comorbidities. Allergy testing would be done most commonly in clinic using skin prick testing. On occasion, allergy blood tests will be required. After diagnoses, a detailed allergy management plan would be provided. Further training if required would be provided in use of Adrenaline auto-injectors, use of nasal spray for managing allergic rhinitis.
I also see patients with kidney related problems like recurrent urine infections, pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis, polycystic and dysplastic kidneys, nephrotic syndrome, kidney insults and hypertension.
