I perform surgery for pelvic organ prolapse and manage urinary incontinence with medical treatment and surgery. I also treat other gynaecology conditions such as menstrual disorders, chronic pelvic pain, sexual dysfunction and postpartum problems. I also offer colposcopy and treatment for abnormal smears and urodynamics investigation for incontinence. I have been a consultant gynaecologist with a subspecialty interest in urogynaecology at the Royal Bolton Hospital since September 2006.

I trained in the West Midlands and North West Deaneries and obtained membership of the Royal College of obstetricians and gynaecologist in 1998 and colposcopy accreditation in 1999. I undertook research into reducing postpartum anal sphincter morbidity culminating in a Doctor of Medicine in December 2005 and consolidated my urogynaecology interest in Liverpool. I completed specialist training and obtained the certificate of completion of training in obstetrics and gynaecology in 2006.

I am a honorary senior lecturer and academic advisor at the University of Manchester.

Professional leadership

I am the lead for gynaecology and urogynaecology at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

My research interest is in pelvic floor dysfunction and I participate in clinical trials evaluating prolapse repair and incontinence surgery. I co-authored the RCOG green top guideline No 29- third and fourth perineal tears management.
