I qualified in medicine from University College Dublin in 1996 and following early plastic surgical training in Ireland, I moved to Manchester in 2002 to undergo a research fellowship at the University of Manchester. After the awarding of my doctoral thesis in 2005, I commenced higher surgical training in plastic and cosmetic surgery in the North West training region.
I was awarded the FRCS (plast) fellowship in plastic surgery, and then became a National Oncoplastic Breast fellow. Where I undertook my fellowship at the renowned Nottingham Breast Institute learning, about the management of all aspects of breast cancer treatment, as well as refining skills in breast reconstruction and aesthetics.
I also undertook a National cosmetic surgery training fellowship in Nottingham and, on awarding of her Certificate of Specialist training and entry onto the Specialist register in Plastic Surgery, I was appointed as a Plastic and Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle in 2012.
In June 2013, I returned to Manchester to take up a Breast Reconstruction post at Wythenshawe Hospital.
I specialise in microsurgical breast reconstruction (DIEP, TRAM, TUG flaps) and other complex and revision breast surgery. I also specialises in the treatment of developmental breast asymmetry and aesthetic surgery.
I have previously presented at national and international meetings and have also published in scientific journals and surgical textbooks.
