Virtual consultations:
I am Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon based at Southampton General Hospital. Specialising in strabismus (squints), double vision, cataracts, children’s eye conditions and general adult eye problems. I hold expertise in managing double vision with both surgical and non- surgical treatments. This is particularly relevant to patients who are considering cataract surgery, who are at risk developing double vision post-operatively.
My aim is to have a positive impact on patients by maximising their vision or improving their appearance and quality of life. I firmly believe it is important that patients receive the right diagnosis as early as possible and that they are provided with the full range of treatment options so that they can make informed decisions.
After graduating from Southampton University Medical school, I completed my specialist ophthalmology training in the highly regarded centres of Queen's Medical Centre, Nottingham and The Bristol Eye Hospital. Subsequently undertaking two years of subspecialty training in paediatric ophthalmology and strabismus including a prestigious fellowship at Sickkids, Toronto, for which I was awarded the JD Morin prize for best fellow. My second fellowship was at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where I gained extensive knowledge and training in treating children's eye diseases and squints.
I have been a Consultant at Southampton General Hospital since 2013, where I lead the tertiary oculomotility service. During this time, I have been both clinical lead and deputy clinical lead, college tutor and am responsible for setting up the well-renowned Southampton CESR training programme, which has since been adopted as a national model by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists.
I am proud to be frequently invited to speak at national conferences, most recently for the Royal College of Ophthalmology Congress and the British Isles Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus meetings.
