Specialises in
I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specific interest in joint replacements in patients of all ages. I have an interest in the testing, and development of joint replacements, which last longer and offer greater function to patients who want to live pain free and active lifestyles.
I offer opinions and treatments, ranging from injections, joint manipulations and surgery for hip and knee conditions. For appropriate patients, I offer arthroscopic (keyhole surgery) of the knee, including meniscal surgery and repair. I also offer realignment surgery to appropriate patients.
My areas of interest are in joint preservation, and if required high functioning joint replacements. I specialise in partial and full knee replacement, as well as uncemented and cemented hip replacements, with long lasting ceramic bearing surfaces.
To date, I have performed over 3,000 orthopaedic operations, including hundreds of knee arthroscopies (keyhole surgery). I have also performed hundreds of hip and knee replacements.
I qualified from the University of Liverpool Medical School, and completed a higher Doctorate of Medical Research degree, MD(Res), at Imperial College London, under the supervision of Orthopaedic Surgeon, Professor Justin Cobb, Orthopaedic surgeon to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I completed higher orthopaedic surgical training on the North Yorkshire rotation and fellowship training in hip and knee surgery at the regional revision centre and world renowned Wrightington Hospital.
I am a reviewer for numerous clinical journals including Injury, The Knee, Bone and Joint Journal. I am an expert witness for the General Medical Council and compile expert reports in cases involving hip and knee surgery.
