I graduated in 1990 and trained as a general surgeon before specialising in cardiothoracic surgery and gaining my specialty exam in 2003. I spent two years in research looking at biomarkers of lung cancer and ischaemic lung injury and gained a Masters degree (Msc) in Clinical Oncology. In 2006 I travelled to the USA to spend time at Seattle Medical Centre learning advanced thoracic surgery including VATS Lobectomy, Tracheal Surgery and Lung Volume Reduction Surgery (LVRS).
I started my consultant post at Southampton Hospital in September 2012 where I perform the full range of thoracic procedures in addition to developing research into lung cancer, benign lung disease and Micro CT with researchers from Southampton University.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Aiman Alzetani at Spire include:

I’m married to a Consultant in Diabetes with three children; we like to engage in family activities so we cycle and trek together come rain or shine. My chosen charity is the British Red Cross for which I fund raise through running such as the 2013 London Marathon and I am about to do the Bournemouth Half Marathon soon!
