I have an exclusive interest in disorders of the knee and sports injuries. I have been a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon for over 20 years and have built an experienced support and operative team. I treat both operative and non-operative conditions of the knee. I provide all forms of modern knee treatments and techniques. Physical therapy, injections, changes to lifestyle or modifying activities are key to my treatment principles, irrespective of whether surgery is indicated or not.
I primarily use keyhole techniques and am able to use radiofrequency stabilisation of cartilage, repair of meniscus using special sutures, and cruciate ligament surgery and cartilage regeneration techniques with minimal trauma to normal tissues. In joint replacement surgery I am able to offer a full range of knee joints, computer navigated or patient matched surgery and custom made implants. Together with my team, I have worked to develop techniques to reduce blood loss and reduce pain following knee replacements, which enhances recovery and reduces complications. I have conducted Symposia all over the world to discuss these techniques.
I am the Vice President of the British Society for Computer Assisted Surgery and Chairman of the computers and enabling technology committee of SICOT, which is the largest international orthopaedic organisation. My NHS commitments are at Epsom and St Helier NHS Trust. I am a founding consultant at the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre in Epsom.
I have an abiding interest in sport injuries and provide orthopaedic services to South London clubs. I now deal exclusively with sports injuries to the knee. I have seen a worrying trend in increasing numbers of patients with cruciate ligament injuries in my practice. I am working with colleagues internationally to find a way to reduce the incidents, but also improve the outcome of surgery.
I have expertise in revision of failed surgical procedures including joint replacements, cruciate ligaments, and cartilage regenerating and patellofemoral procedures.
Common procedures: Total Knee Replacement, Partial Knee Replacement, Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction, Corrective Osteotomy, Arthroscopy of the Knee, Cartilage Transplant, Patella Realignment, Patella Stabilization, Patellofemoral Replacement.
