I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Spire Hartswood in Brentwood, Essex, offering specialist private shoulder surgery and general orthopaedic surgery.
Having elected to specialise in orthopaedics, I developed a special interest in arthroscopic surgery at an early stage in my career. As a result of my involvement in sport injuries I became interested in shoulder surgery in athletes, subsequently expanding into the area of shoulder surgery, particularly in arthroscopic shoulder surgery.
At this time, this was a fairly new procedure and over the past few years arthroscopic shoulder surgery has enjoyed an explosion of interest from orthopaedic surgeons. I was fortunate to be at a stage in my career when I could develop this further. Arthroscopic surgery has a clear advantage over open procedures - the field of vision is magnified by about 20 times and thus more detail is available to the surgeon. Also, a number of conditions are best diagnosed and treated arthroscopically. Shoulder problems continue to be my main interest. I keep up to date with the most recent developments in the field, attending various international courses in America and Europe.
I completed my medical training in the UK and then worked in Saudi Arabia for seven years before returning to the UK where I have lived since being appointed a consultant orthopaedic surgeon in 1995.
Some of the principal treatments carried out by Mr Ali Al-Sabti at Spire include:

I have a particular interest in mechanical and electronic gadgets and enjoy flying remote controlled aeroplanes (quite frequently repairing what I break). I play football, enjoy skiing and am a DIY enthusiast, working a lot in the home, time permitting.
