I am a Consultant Spinal Neurosurgeon with expertise in microsurgical techniques, decompression with either fusion or disc replacement. These options are used for treatment of compression of nerve roots in the lumbar and cervical spine. Compression can cause sciatica (back and leg pain), pins and needles, neck pain and myelopathy (spinal cord compression in the neck). Nerve root compression can also occur causing arm pain with weakness and numbness of the arms and hands. In addition, I have a special interest in treatment of spinal cord tumours, spinal tumours, Chiari malformation and syringomyelia (pain and clumsiness in the hands with loss of balance).
Operations I perform include, but are not limited to, microsurgical excision of disc prolapse, decompression of all levels within the spine, laminectomy, fusion, insertion of instrumentation, marsupialisation of arachnoid cysts and removal of spinal cord tumours.
