I am a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital. My specialist interest is surgery of the lower limb with a particular interest in hip surgery. I perform primary and revision hip replacement surgery, keyhole surgery of the hip, and soft tissue reconstruction surgery of the hip. I also perform knee joint replacement surgery and keyhole surgery of the knee. I have extensive experience in complex primary hip replacements as well as revision hip surgery. I also have a keen interest in sports injuries to the hip.
I graduated from the University of Leicester in 1999. I then became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2004 and proceeded on to orthopaedic training in Manchester in 2006. In 2010, I became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons and was awarded the certificate of completion of training in 2012. I was later appointed as a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Bolton Hospital in March 2014. During my last year of training I undertook a fellowship in hip surgery where I learnt hip arthroscopy techniques. I then undertook a specialist hip fellowship at Wrightington Hospital.
I regularly teach on hip replacement and trauma surgery courses, as well as courses for the Orthopaedic Fellowship exams. I am also actively involved in the training of junior surgeons within the NHS. In addition to this, I have published papers in peer reviewed journals and contributed to orthopaedic text books.

My main interests are music, winter sports, DIY and my family. I play the piano to a high level, in several disciplines, including classical, blues and contemporary music. I am also a founder member of several bands, beginning with a Blues and Soul band in University and I currently play in a rock band, and am involved with arranging music for the band. I also occasionally perform as a solo pianist and am currently learning to play the acoustic guitar.

I currently coach rugby at Sale Scorpions at under eight level and I closely follow the fortunes of Sale Sharks Rugby Club where I hold a season ticket and the Welsh International Team during the rugby season.
I relax by spending time with my wife, son aged eight years, and daughter aged four years. I am a keen amateur chef and enjoy eating out with my friends and family.
