I have extensive experience of the investigation and management of gastroenterological (gut) and hepatological (liver) disorders. I have been a consultant since 1998 and am proud of my patient-centred care. I have a special interest in irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory bowel disease (ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease), coeliac disease, oesophageal diseases, gut motility, colonic diseases, abnormal liver tests and liver diseases. My experience and commitment to excellence has led to a highly prestigious national silver award.Â
To date I have performed 10,000 colonoscopies, 7,500 upper GI endoscopies and 1,300 ERCPs in my NHS and private practices. My key performance indicators are exemplary for the above procedures.
I have held many key local, regional and national managerial positions over the last 20 years. I currently hold the following senior national positions: Chair of British Society of Gastroenterology Clinical Services and Standards Committee; immediate past Quality Improvement Lead for British Society of Gastroenterology; Censor of Royal College of Physicians of London.
In addition to my clinical work I am an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of East Anglia.
