I specialise in all aspects of knee surgery and only see patients with knee problems. I run the Knee Injury Service at Frenchay Hospital and provide a similar service in my private practice. I provide a full range of options for patients with cartilage problems, including cartilage regeneration and transplant techniques and re-aligning osteotomies. I can offer half (unicompartmental) and total knee replacements for the treatment of advanced arthritis.
I lead the revision knee replacement service for North Bristol NHS Trust. Complex knee replacement and revision knee replacements are also available in my private practice. I receive a high proportion of referrals for complex knee problems from Cheltenham, Bath, Yeovil, Taunton, Weston and South Wales.
I trained in orthopaedics in Bristol before gaining additional experience in knee surgery in Australia, the USA, Canada and Scandinavia.
I maintain an active interest in all areas of knee research and education and developed the knee replacement education classes at the Avon Orthopaedic Centre. I am the adviser on knee problems and pathways to the Bristol PCT MATS and South Gloucestershire PCT CATS programmes. I am a former recipient of the British Knee Society Travelling Fellowship and the Knee Society President's Medal. I advise on knee replacement and knee technologies to the Medicine Devices Agency and NICE.
